The Aeolian Islands, also known as the “Lipari Islands”, have been nominated patrimony of humanity by UNESCU. The seven splendid islands surrounded by the blue Tyrrhenian Sea north of the north-eastern Sicilian coast. The islands are of volcanic origin and are home to two active volcanoes situated on the islands of Vulcano and Stromboli.
Lipari, Salina, Vulcano, Panarea, Stromboli, Alicudi and Filicudi, defined as the “seven pearls of the Mediterranean” offer unspoilt nature, breathtaking landscape, sea-beds of undeniable beauty and crystal clear sea. The pebbled and fine black-sandy beaches, gigantic faraglioni jutting out of the sea, caves and marine grottos to be explored and memorable dawns and sunsets are all part of the splendid features of the Aeolian Islands. Its mild climate, with temperatures never below 10°, allows for pleasant stays even off-season.
In the past, as well as in the present, travellers, writers and explorers in search of adventures have been inspired by the Aeolian Islands, and have created some of the most intense narratives; M. Dumas, Houel, G. De Maupassant and many other artists have explored these seven wonders, enraptured with their eternal wildness.
Seven timeless islands, which offer exotic charm and, thanks to their geographic location, an ideal destination for holidays away from every-day life.
