Vulcano is characterized by its two bays: Baia di Levante and Baia di Ponente.
Baia di Levante enjoys fine black sand and is also known as “Acque Calde” due to its hot waters coming out from undersea springs generated by outlets of volcanic gas, used for healing therapies.

Baia di Ponente is also known as “Sabbie Nere” because of its volcanic black sands.

“Dell’Asino” beach, also characterized by its fine black sand, is accessible by sea or from the port by following the main road which connects Porto Levante to Vulcano Piano, and then proceeding to “Gelso”. Set among lush vegetation, the beach is well equipped with clear blue waters.
“Gelso” beach, situated in the small village of the same name, south of the island, is a small yet delightful stretch of sand located close to the old lighthouse.
