Total fare: €270 one way for 2 people (€540 round trip)
Meeting point: airport arrivals area, near Bar Sicilia, with a driver identifiable by a name sign.
Important note: To guarantee connections, the flight must land by 4:00 PM and depart after 1:00 PM.

    Details required for booking:

One-way fare: from €2,800 all inclusive

*Aircraft availability and fare must be reconfirmed at the time of request. Specific cancellation and payment conditions apply.

As an alternative to Catania airport, the airports of Palermo or Reggio Calabria can also be considered. From both cities, direct hydrofoils to Vulcano are operated by Liberty Lines https://www.libertylines.it/.
The frequency of runs is reduced compared to Milazzo: we recommend checking the official website for updated schedules during the period of interest.
We can arrange our transfer with a private car from any city or airport in Sicily, followed by a public hydrofoil or private boat from the Port of Milazzo to Vulcano. Rates are available on request.

  • Does the property offer porter service?
Yes. Porter service is available both on arrival and departure. Our staff can welcome guests at the port with the property shuttle, assist them in the transfer to the resort, and take care of their luggage. The same support is also guaranteed at check-out, for a smooth, worry-free experience. Simply contact the property a couple of days in advance to share your arrival and departure times.

  • Is there a laundry, ironing, or dry-cleaning service?
Yes. An on-site laundry and ironing service is available, both standard and express. Dry-cleaning, however, is not available.

  • Are connecting rooms available for families or groups?
The only connecting rooms are: Suite Panarea (maximum 4 people) or Family Room (maximum 6 people).

Suite Panarea (67 m²): made up of two connecting spaces: a double bedroom and an elegant living room with two comfortable single beds. An internal door links the two areas, each with a spacious bathroom with shower and direct access to two sea-view terraces, one of which is enhanced by an outdoor shower.
The Suite also features a double entrance: one external, through a third private terrace ideal for breakfasts or dinners in total relaxation, and one internal, via a staircase ramp that, from the ground floor, leads to the lower level. Its distinctive position, right along the coast, allows for an experience in close contact with the sea and the chance to admire the magnificent view over the islands of Lipari, Panarea, and Stromboli.

Family Room: this accommodation consists of two completely independent rooms, each with its own bathroom and a private terrace with sea view, connected by an internal door (which can be opened to create a single area or kept closed for two separate spaces). The Family Room is set slightly apart from the main building while remaining very close to all services; it therefore guarantees greater privacy and relaxation. (Availability upon direct request to the booking office.)

Alternatively, we can offer separate rooms close to one another (facing each other or adjacent), but not directly connecting.

  • Is it possible to request an evening turndown service?
Yes, the service is always carried out starting from 7:00 PM, and you may indicate a preferred time for specific needs.

  • Is the property pet-free to ensure maximum tranquility for guests?
The property welcomes small pets, provided they are used to staying in the room, since—out of consideration for all guests—access to restaurants, bars, spa, and pools is not allowed. There are outdoor common areas for open-air walks.

  • Is the resort adults only?
We are not an “adults only” property; however, we prefer to handle bookings for families with children more directly, as we have a limited number of family rooms and the resort does not offer services or activities dedicated to younger guests, such as entertainment or a kids’ club.

  • Does the resort have a private beach?
The resort offers a striking rocky platform equipped with comfortable loungers and umbrellas, with direct access to the sea via a ladder. Being on the Lipari channel with a view over the entire Aeolian archipelago, the seabed drops off immediately. (There are several stairways, as the descent to the water follows the coastline’s natural shape.) The Resort also features an infinity pool with a magnificent view over the whole archipelago and the sunset, plus two saltwater relaxation pools. We therefore do not have a sandy beach, but the island’s main beaches are just a few minutes away, reachable with our free shuttle service available to guests at set times during the day, by reservation. There you can find public beach areas or beach clubs where you can rent umbrellas and loungers with refreshment points.

  • Does the resort provide a shuttle service or vehicle rentals?
The resort offers a free shuttle service at set times, by reservation, connecting the Port of Levante (the island’s center) to the resort and back, available from 9:00 AM until about 10:30 PM. For short stays, this service is generally enough, especially if you prefer to spend most of your time enjoying the resort’s in-house services.
If you want greater independence, you can rent a car, scooter, quad, mehari, so you can explore the island freely. Rentals can be arranged through the reception team, who will have the vehicle delivered to the hotel.

A few taxis are also available on the island, though in limited numbers.

  • What are Vulcano’s beaches?
Spiaggia delle Sabbie Nere (Black Sand Beach): reachable with our shuttle, it has two beach clubs (“Baia Negra” and “Sunset Beach”) with sun loungers, umbrellas, and a kiosk for food or drinks.

Spiaggia delle Acque Calde (Warm Waters Beach): located a short walk from the port and reachable with our shuttle, it features very pleasant warm water jets, like a natural hot tub, thanks to natural geysers rising from underground.

Spiaggia dell’Asino (Donkey Beach): this hidden beach—an oasis of peace and relaxation—can be reached by taxi to the Port of Gelso; from there, the beach staff will take you to your destination by small rubber boat in just a few minutes. This service can be booked through the Guest Relation Team or Reception.

There are also beautiful coves and natural caves such as the Piscina di Venere (Venus’ Pool) and the Grotta del Cavallo (Horse Cave), reachable only by sea.

DINING

  • Do we need to book the Michelin-starred restaurants “I Tenerumi” and “Il Cappero”?
We recommend booking all of our restaurants in advance. For “I Tenerumi” and “Il Cappero” in particular, given the high demand and limited number of tables, booking ahead is strongly advised to ensure availability.

  • Is a vegan or plant-based tasting menu available?
Yes. We always appreciate advance notice—especially for the starred restaurants, but more generally for all of our dining venues—so we can offer dedicated, carefully tailored options.

  • Can a private dinner be arranged in exclusive locations (sea view, poolside, private terrace)?
Yes. The resort offers various options for private dinners in an intimate, evocative atmosphere, ideal for celebrating special moments at sunset or under the stars.

  • Do you offer room service for breakfast or main meals?

Yes. Advance notice is always required for allergies, intolerances, or dietary needs, so we can propose dedicated, carefully thought-out solutions.

  • Is there an age policy for the restaurants?
At the restaurants “I Tenerumi” and “Il Cappero,” both Michelin-starred, dinner is not available to children under 10 years old. This choice comes from the desire to preserve the experience and the intimate atmosphere that define these places, and that might not best suit younger guests’ needs. Upon request, a private babysitting service can be arranged for the duration of the dinner.

BREAKFAST

  • Is it possible to request breakfast in the room?
Yes, you can request room service for breakfast.

  • Are certified gluten-free alternatives available?
Yes. We have gluten-free products prepared by our chefs; however, since we cannot guarantee the total absence of cross-contamination, their consumption is at the guest’s discretion, depending on their level of gluten sensitivity. As an alternative, we provide a selection of packaged, certified gluten-free products, which ensure maximum safety.

  • Do you offer special breakfasts (healthy breakfast, vegan breakfast)?
Yes. Alongside our generous buffet—which includes artisan leavened goods, baked items, bread, fresh fruit, a selection of cheeses and cured meats, juices and fresh extracts—we offer healthy options and 100% vegan choices. Many of our sweet and savory preparations are naturally gluten-free and lactose-free, made with high-quality ingredients, selected flours, and natural sweeteners. Upon request, our team will be happy to prepare customized alternatives based on guests’ dietary needs.

  • What treatments does the Spa offer?
The Spa features a heated pool with whirlpool, sauna, Turkish bath, and an experience shower: the right path to rediscover harmony and relaxation. It also offers a wide selection of services including massages, scrubs, mud treatments, face and body treatments, and customizable packages.

  • Are there adults-only hours?
No. In general, access to the spa is not allowed to guests under 16.

  • Do you offer yoga, meditation, or personal training classes?
Yes. The resort offers yoga, pilates, meditation, and personal training classes following a dedicated weekly schedule. Private lessons, tailor-made to the guest’s needs, can also be requested.

ACTIVITIES / EXPERIENCES / EVENTS

  • Do you arrange boat transfers to the other Aeolian Islands?
Yes, taxi boats between the islands can be arranged.

    Average sailing times from Vulcano
Vulcano → Lipari: about 10–15 minutes
Vulcano → Salina: about 30–40 minutes
Vulcano → Panarea: about 1 hour
Vulcano → Stromboli: about 1 hour 30 minutes
Vulcano → Filicudi: about 1 hour 15 minutes
Vulcano → Alicudi: about 1 hour 45 minutes

    * Times are approximate and depend on the type of rib or boat used and on sea conditions. Rates and availability are provided on request.

Private-boat transfers between the Aeolian Islands are usually requested as a taxi service, especially for Lipari or Salina and Panarea.
Other destinations (such as Stromboli, Filicudi, or Alicudi) are recommended as part of broader excursions that include swimming stops and scenic cruising, rather than as simple direct transfers.

For direct travel between islands, the Liberty Lines scheduled hydrofoil service is also available, operating links with variable frequency depending on high or low season. Depending on the period, runs usually do not go past 7:00–8:00 PM. A taxi boat is therefore needed for the return if you wish to dine on other islands.

  • Is it possible to rent boats, ribs, or private yachts?
Yes, we offer a range of rental options: ribs (with or without skipper), boats of various sizes, and private yachts with skipper service.
In general, private or group boat excursions can be arranged.

    Private boat excursions (customizable):
A special way to discover the islands, with an experienced skipper who will show you the best corners of sea. Hidden caves, natural geysers, white and crystal-clear seabeds, and much more for an unforgettable experience.

By choosing a private boat, you can tailor the tour following the skipper’s advice, deciding departure time, any stops on the islands, and return time, always taking into account how close the islands are.
(Visitables together: Vulcano and Lipari, Lipari and Salina, Panarea and Stromboli, Alicudi and Filicudi.)

    Group boat excursions (set tours):
Group excursions follow a weekly program with fixed tours and times.
Some companies offer tours on boats hosting up to 15 people, while others go up to 60–70 guests.
    Options include:
    • 2-hour tour around Vulcano
    • Full tour around Vulcano with a stop at Asino Beach in Gelso for lunch
    • Lipari and Salina
    • Panarea and Stromboli
    • Alicudi and Filicudi (usually organized only once a week)

The companies we work with update us weekly on the scheduled tours, so we can propose the available options for your preferred days only a few days in advance.

  • Do you offer tastings, cooking classes, or wine experiences with the chef?
Yes, cooking, cocktail, or wine classes can be arranged on request.

  • Can you organize marriage proposals or personalized surprises?
Yes, our Guest Relation Team will be happy to suggest special, personalized experiences based on your preferences.

  • Is a professional photo shoot available?
Yes, it can be arranged on request. We recommend booking in advance to ensure availability.

  • Do you organize outdoor activities such as trekking, snorkeling, or diving?
    We recommend the following activities:

    Climb to the Gran Cratere
The Gran Cratere of the Island of Vulcano is now visible in the shape inherited from the last eruption in the spring of 1890.
The walk along the trail leading to the crater can be demanding but within everyone’s reach (classified as difficulty E – Hiking). The maximum altitude is 391 meters, with a round-trip walking time of about 2 hours. The climb can be done from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM or from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM. At the starting point there is a traffic-light signal showing green or red to indicate whether the climb is feasible, based on the day’s sulfur fume intensity.

You can climb the crater on your own or with an expert guide.
How to equip yourself: trekking shoes or closed shoes, a hat, and water.

Rental of an e-bike, mehari, mini-moke, car, quad, scooter.
Renting a vehicle lets you explore the island in complete freedom during your stay.

    Diving\Snorkeling
Diving for certified divers or snorkeling with professionals who will guide you through our magnificent crystal-clear seabeds.

Island tour overland by taxi or e-bike with expert guide
Accompanied by an expert guide in the island’s history, origins, flora, and fauna, you will discover Vulcano’s most interesting spots and admire its landscapes.
Taxi tour for 2 people (about 2 hours)
    E-bike tour for 2 people (2–3 hours)

    Paragliding
Live the unique thrill of flying in tandem and take in breathtaking views from above. With professional pilots, you will soar over:
    • Monte Saraceno, one of the island’s highest points, part of the volcanic structure of Primordial Vulcano.
    • The Gran Cratere della Fossa, seeing its ridge adorned by permanent fumarolic activity.
    • Spiaggia delle Acque Calde and the thermal muds.
    Spiaggia di Sabbia Nera.

    Sunset Walk
The perfect activity for those who want to connect with the wild, volcanic nature of these islands without giving up the pleasures of togetherness. During the trek, you’ll discover hidden, little-trodden paths, learning the secrets of the Island of Vulcano and its history. The tour lasts about 3 hours.

    Sailing boat tour
    A full-day activity that includes:
    • Aperitif
    • Snorkeling
    • Relaxing on board
    • Coastal exploration
    • Dives and swims in the most beautiful bays.

  • Is it possible to visit all the islands in one day with organized tours?
It is not possible to visit all 7 Aeolian Islands in a single day, as they are too far apart to be included in one day trip.
Tours are available that allow you to visit a maximum of two islands in the same day (for example Lipari + Vulcano, Panarea + Stromboli, Lipari + Salina, Alicudi + Filicudi).

  • Is a guide mandatory to climb the crater?
No, it is not mandatory. You can reach the crater on your own, following the authorized trails. Alternatively, you can hike with an expert guide, which allows you to explore the volcano’s natural and geological aspects more deeply.
    Duration: about 2 hours total
How to equip yourself: trekking shoes or closed shoes, a hat, and water.

  • Is Vulcano’s mud pool close to the resort?
The famous mud pool of Vulcano is near the Port of Levante, about 2 km from the resort. It can be reached with a short walk once you arrive at the port with our shuttle.

  • Is the smell of sulfur noticeable at the resort?
No. The resort is about 2 km from the mud pool, so no sulfur smell is perceived within the property. The odor is more present only in the port area, where the geothermal zones are located.

  • What are the policies in case of weather events or force majeure?
Any changes to a stay due to force majeure are handled case by case, depending on the type of rate booked.
In the presence of adverse sea-weather conditions that prevent reaching the island—namely a total suspension of all maritime connections—the property may issue a voucher of the same amount, to be used for a future stay.

SUSTAINABILITY

  • Does the resort hold sustainability certifications?
Yes. Guided by Green Globe—the world’s leading partner for certifying and improving sustainability performance—the resort is committed to promoting initiatives for greater corporate environmental responsibility and to expanding the use of technology in ways that do not harm the environment.
Green Globe periodically audits economic, social, and environmental sustainability, since Therasia Resort Sea & Spa’s core commitment is to deliver highly professional service through an eco-sustainable lens.

  • What environmental initiatives do you apply at the property and in the restaurants?
We adopt a range of sustainable practices, including reducing single-use plastic, responsible waste management, sustainable care of green areas, and water and energy saving. For our restaurants, we choose local, seasonal, zero-mile ingredients, supporting local producers and suppliers, complemented by the self-production from our own garden, to ensure freshness and reduce environmental impact. Thanks to this commitment, our restaurants Il Cappero and I Tenerumi have been awarded the Michelin Green Star, a recognition dedicated to sustainable gastronomy.

  • Do you use renewable energy?
Yes. We implement energy-efficiency systems and use renewable sources to support the property’s needs, including thermal solar panels for hot-water production. In addition, we constantly monitor consumption to reduce environmental impact.

  • Do you limit the use of single-use plastic?
Yes, our hotel is plastic-free and adopts sustainable solutions in every department to minimize environmental impact.

TRANSFERS AND LOGISTICS

  • How do you reach the resort from Sicily (airports, ports, transfers)?
The main airport for reaching Vulcano is Catania Fontanarossa, the closest to Milazzo (about 120 km, 1h40), the primary boarding port for the Aeolian Islands. Alternatively, you can fly into Palermo or Reggio Calabria, both a short distance from their respective ports with direct hydrofoil connections to Vulcano; these, however, are far less frequent than Milazzo, with only a few runs per day that vary depending on high or low season. You can check the schedule on www.libertylines.it.
From Catania airport, Milazzo can be reached by private transfer, rental car, or shared buses at set times. From Milazzo, you continue by hydrofoil (50 minutes, Liberty Lines), ferry (about 1h20, Siremar), or private boat. It is important to land in Catania by 4:00 PM and depart no earlier than 1:00 PM.

From the airport—or from anywhere in Sicily—the resort can arrange a complete transfer service by private car to the Port of Milazzo, including hydrofoil tickets or, upon request, the organization of a private boat.

You can also reach us from the Port of Naples thanks to the Snav direct fast hydrofoil, with daily departure at 2:30 PM and arrival in Vulcano at 8:40 PM (about 6 hours at sea). The return from Vulcano to Naples runs once a day, every day at 7:30 AM. Available only from late May to mid-September.

Once on the island, we offer all guests a complimentary welcome shuttle: in just a few minutes you reach the resort, and the same applies for departure transfers. The team remains at your disposal to identify the most convenient route based on guests’ needs.

  • For those already in Sicily, which ports can you depart from to reach Vulcano?
If you are already in Sicily, you can reach the island of Vulcano from several ports. The main one is Milazzo, which offers the highest number of daily runs and is always the most recommended choice, especially if you have a car. Alternatively, you can also board from the ports of Messina or Palermo, where connections are active but with a limited number of runs.

  • How far in advance do you need to buy hydrofoil tickets?
During high season months such as July and August, or on weekends, we recommend purchasing tickets a couple of days in advance, to secure departure at your preferred time.
In general, there are no particular difficulties: departures from Milazzo are quite frequent, about one per hour, with last runs around 7:30–8:00 PM. From the ports of Messina, Palermo, or Reggio Calabria, instead, it is preferable to buy tickets a bit in advance, since daily runs are limited.

  • Can luggage be transferred separately from people?
You can have your luggage delivered to the hotel in advance and, likewise, we can handle its shipment at departure through Poste Italiane.
In case of lost luggage upon arrival at the airport, our team is available to support recovery procedures and coordinate the quickest possible redelivery on the island through local providers.

  • Do you assist guests in case of cancellations or delays in transportation?
Absolutely. If the transfer was arranged through the resort, our team will manage any changes in plans due to delays or cancellations, coordinating alternative travel. Even for guests traveling independently, the team is always available to provide support, updates on maritime connections, and practical assistance whenever needed.

  • Do you need a car or vehicle to get around the island?
It very much depends on the length of your stay and the kind of experience you want to live. The resort provides a shuttle service at set times, by reservation, connecting the Port of Levante (the island’s center) to the resort and back, available from 9:00 AM until about 10:30 PM. For short stays, this service is generally sufficient, especially if you prefer to spend most of your time enjoying the resort’s in-house services.
If you want greater independence, you can rent a car or scooter (we can take care of the booking ourselves) to explore the island freely.
A few taxis are also available on the island, though in limited numbers.

  • Can you arrive on the island by car?
Local regulations require a minimum stay of 7 nights in order to disembark on the island with your own vehicle. Car boarding is allowed exclusively on Siremar ferries departing from Milazzo. The Resort offers a transfer service for all guests to and from the Port of Vulcano on arrival and departure, as well as connections during the day at set times by reservation. For this reason, a car is not essential—unless you wish to be completely independent in your movements.
For those who prefer to explore the island on their own, it is still possible to rent a car locally even just for one or two days, to comfortably reach the island’s wilder, more scenic side.

  • Are taxis available on the island?
Yes, but in very limited numbers. For this reason, it’s necessary to plan a bit ahead, especially for longer routes such as reaching the Gelso area, about 30 minutes from the center. Alternatively, we recommend renting a car or scooter, a more convenient and flexible solution.
